Camp is Coming

Less than two weeks and some of you will be rolling into camp. I hope you are as excited as we are. Be sure to read the "Preparing for Camp" link on the website. We've added a few new things for camp this year. We will have two new elements on our challenge course, an updated swimming safety program and a family event at the end of camp. See you there. Mr Eddie

The first day of camp is over and we are having an exciting time. We woke up this morning and had our quiet time. We read about Daniel and how he resolved to follow God's instructions on foods to eat. We all have choices to make, to follow God and obey Him or follow the things of the world. We hiked, swam, canoed, fished, shot the bows, shot rifles, made candle holders and faced the challenge course. Our rooms were inspected and all the rooms were great. Ms Leah's group won the "Clean as a Whistle" Award. After lunch Mr David Stroup led us in worship and Mr E the Magic man used illusions to share the gospel. More activities, dinner and a wild and crazy game of Capture the Flag. The Candle Bearers won but we all had fun. Mr David and Mr Stephen's groups are spending the night in tents tonight. All the groups are having Cabin time to discuss today's lessons.

Camp 2007 Session 1

Camp 2007
Session I

The focus of camp was based on Daniel. At a young age, he stood up for his KING through his obedient, passionate relationship with God. The Lord empowered Daniel to influence and shine brightly for his God!!

Many kids come to camp knowing God because they prayed the prayer of salvation. After an intense week of the Holy Spirit revealing Himself, they went home making God their God. The constant input and influence of Chapel speakers, counselors and CIT'S was the Holy Spirit stirring hearts of kids to step out in faith.

The Worship leader God chose for that week blessed us with musical talent, a heart of worship, and miles of smiles! He wrote two songs for camp - Heart Cry and Who Am I( both had life long messages that penetrated our hearts.) The banana song will echo through the mountains of Blue Ridge forever!!

God brought a missionary from Indonesia who enlightened us about pig-killing in the tribes and used an illustration to show us that once we are "in Christ" , we're sealed until the day of Christ Jesus. The rest of the week we were challenged by Junior and Mr. Chip who used ventriloquism to illustrate MANY truths, but one important one was the fact that without Chip, Junior can't do anything- just like us - apart from Christ, we can do NOTHING! He activates us, motivates us, energizes us, and speaks through us.

We stand in awe at what God did to capture the hearts of all those He brought. The Thursday night campfire was threatened by the enemy to rain out this special time, but God held the clouds and His spirit was poured out, while children poured out their hearts in worship to the only God and King!
Other highlights of His Voice:

• Chalk talk on Wednesday night
• Peter Pan Cotton Candy Double Dipping M&Ms ABIDE
• Wasp sting / James 5:15
• Fish caught for the first time
• Fears overcome
• Man without limbs/ God without limits video

The joy of the Lord abounded in and through the camp this week. The Lord provided awesome servants who helped provide supper for the weary staff who doesn't have time to prepare food. We are so grateful for all the hands who worked to set up for this session. The prayer warriors who constantly lifted up the campers and staff were very instrumental in what God did this week. Those who donated funds to help scholarship some campers will be blessed . We praise Him and give Him all the Glory!!!

Crown Him with Many Crowns- KING JESUS for 20 years in ministry!!

Last night we had planned to see a chalk talk by Caleb. Mr Dave was going to lead us in a few songs before the talk. About the time dinner ended all the electricity went out. The plans had changed. Mr Dave began singing some worship songs as Caleb set up his easel for the chalk talk - if the electricity came back on. The more we sang the more we felt God's presence. Mr Eddie and Caleb did not have a prompting to pray specifically that the lights would come on but that God would direct the evening. The worship time was very special and God touched many hearts. One girl prayed to receive Christ. The electricity finally came on and we saw and heard the Chalk Talk. Yesterday Mr Mike Bove talked about being a missionary in Indonesia. Some of the boys spent the night in the tents (some of the girls stayed in the tents on Tuesday Night). Tonight we plan to cook out and later tonight we are going to have a special worship and praise campfire.

Camp 2006 Session 2

The first full day of camp is over and we had a great day. We got up at 7:00 and had our Quiet Time. We learned that God is a great God that has a wonderful plan for our lives. Breakfast was super. Eggs, bagels, oatmeal and fruit. After cabin clean-up we began our activities: fishing, archery, crafts, challenge course, riflery, and swimming. After lunch (sloppy joes) Mr. Dave lead us in singing and worship followed by Mr Eddie's testimony. Tonight we played Capture the Flag and everyone was exhausted but it was fun. We are meeting with our counselors tonight for Cabin Time to discuss`some of the things we learned today.

Last night we heard Caleb talk about Obeying God. He did a chalk talk and told us a story about Pastor Lee and his daughter. The rain cooled us off but didn't stop any of our activities. Today we get to choose the activity that we want to participate in. We have had an archery contest, Rifle contest and a canoe race. This morning we heard Chip Kirk from Operation mobilization talk to us about walking God's trail with the help of Junior, Kelly Sue and Rocky. Tonight is our campfire. Please pray as we worship God tonight.

It's Wednesday and we have been very busy. Yesterday was an exciting day. Our Quiet Time talked about three kids on an adventure to find their grandfather's treasure. They found a map and began following it's direction. Although the map said to go the long way, the kids took a short cut and found out why the short way is not always the best way. Last night Ms Gail fixed a cook-out with Fourth of July decorations. After the Shaving cream battle , we had fireworks and all the campers sang "God bless America" and Shouted "USA, USA, USA". Brandon B. caught thew biggest fish.
